Project Linus Leicester

On 11 October I took part - for the first time - in Project Linus Charity Day organised by Lynda Hill for Linus Leicester. I was organised at the Rocheberie Quilters meeting place in Rugby and free tea and cake were provided throughout the day.

The day was thoroughly enjoyable, relaxed and friendly, I made a new friend or two and selected a pack of random patches organised by Lynda. My crazy patchwork panels were colourful and bright in some very child-friendly colours and fabrics. I sashed them to make them stand out and added a simple patch of teddies to contrast with the busy-ness of the crazy patches.

I backed the quilt in navy fleece and did some free motion quilting with some lovely varigated thread. A red bias binding around the edge, carefully hand stitched one evening finished off the quilt perfectly.

It is the first quilt I have made for this very worthy cause and I can't wait to get started with the next.

I'm so pleased to see the finished quilt looking so good and look forward to seeing it in the flesh tomorrow! (I have some lovely 'jars' kits you could try if you like!)

I'd love to try the jars - it looks like such a clever use of fabric to create something so colourful and special.

Welcome to blogging Caroline. I love the name you chose. Contented Quilter. Very nice. By the way, most people don't go back to reread their comments, so they probably wouldn't see your comments. I get the comments via email, so I can simply press reply to communicate with the commenter (if they have set up their email address correctly).

Caroline you are set at no reply when you commented on my blog.
The block swap is through a Yahoo group and is unfortunately closed. If you want to do a one on one throughout next year with me just let me know and we'll work something out. Other than that my advise would be to join some on line groups and swap through them.
If you go to www. Yahoo.com and click on groups there are thousands of groups for patchwork and quilters.

You will be interested to know that your teddy quilt was one of those I took to the Leicester Woman's Aid for children at their refuges. I'm sure some lucky child will love it!
