Nine Days Left to go ....

The Wedding is fast approaching and I am actually fairly calm and enjoying some time creating some bits and bobs to add to the informal, homemade feel of my wedding.

Whilst gardening last weekend I ended up throwing away a plant that had withered and died in this basket. After a clean up, some gold spray and ribbon wound around the handle I thought it would make a lovely confetti cone holder.

The table names are named after Scillonian Islands, where Tony and I are going for our honeymoon. I can't believe that some printing companies charge as much as £50.00 for one of these table seat plans!!
These painted rocks will sit amongst the foliage on the tables.

I wanted a bag for my flower girl to carry with my handkerchief, lipstick and other necessities on the day of the wedding. The ones I found were very expensive so I decided to use some silk I keep for embellishing projects. The bag was constructed in no time at all and the flower I happened upon at our local supermarket for £3.00. I'm very pleased with the result.

A pretty box with something very important inside it which I will show you after the wedding!!!

We are into the big wedding countdown now with only 14 days left until the big day!!! Scary!!

The weather was absolutely gorgeous today so my fiance and I set about to improve our garden so that I can have photographs taken before the ceremony. It was looking a bit shabby, but it didn't take long to pull out the weeds and get it in order.

Our garden may be small but it is a haven and filled with quirky creatures and beautiful plants. It never ceases to inspire and fill our hearts with delight.

I thought I would share a few photo's with you.

Cake Boxes, Menu's and Gifts ...

I have been at it again with the Wedding inspiration. This time preparing the cake boxes, Menu's and one or two gifts are in the pipeline!! I will probably tell you more after the wedding!

Anyway, with just just 3 and a half weeks to go, actually 26 days!!! Things are progressing nicely and everything is starting to fall into place, so without further ado, here are some photo's.

Who Needs Jimmy Choo's?

I thought I would share with you the latest creation for my wedding - swiftly coming up in only 4 and 1/2 weeks time!

Weddings have a habit of becoming more and more expensive as time elapses. Not only do you have to buy the dress of your dreams, but low and behold you now need an equally pair of dreamy shoes to go with it. I almost fell into the trap of thinking, designer dress, designer shoes but I just couldn't justify paying the equivalent of a months salary on a pair of shoes that will barely be noticed under the vast fabric of my dress, and may only be worn once! Especially when my dream dress was purchased for less than half of it's retail price. How I love the internet!!

Anyway, I happened across a pair of shoes at a designer outlet not far from home. I could see potential straight away and immediately took them home and started work with a needle, some ribbon and a bit of 'bling', found amongst my sewing things. For £15.00 I have now a truly unique pair of shoes. They are just what a wanted and I can walk in them too - pretty important since I will be wearing them from 11am until midnight!!!

Dragonflies Dancing on Daisies

I don't really know if dragonflies even like daisies or whether they dance on them - but they both begin with 'D' and in my opinion, that is a good thing!

This quilt was commissioned by a customer who wanted a simple strip quilt to celebrate her daughters third birthday. She chose the fabrics and requested dragonflies and flowers to be appliqued over the strips. The photo's show the finished result and I must say how thrilled I am with the finished design.

In hindsight I would perhaps have made the dragonflies stand out more but the overall design is lovely and has worked well with the fabrics used - Charisma by Moda and Moda Marbles in turquoise and pink.

The quilt also includes personalisation of the child's name Ixia Raine and her birthdate - isn't that a gorgeous name?

More Wedding Creativity

I had a pretty bad week last week when I went up North to visit family. There is nothing like a wedding to test a families tensions and mine is no exception. I came home feeling very dispirited and generally down in the dumps. I came very close to wanting the whole wedding cancelled and felt as miserable as I have ever been.

The fog has now lifted, I am glad to say. I went to see our Vicar yesterday to finalise details of the Wedding service and it rather put into perspective what a wedding is all about. It is at the end of the day about two people and two people only, my husband-to-be and I. We will say our vows and promise to love, cherish and honour each other in sickness and in health. What can be more beautiful than that. Tony sent me a text after I had argued with one of my sisters last week, it said, and I quote "Just remember that I love you - this is our day - even if no one turns up we still have each other". How right he is and how happy I am to be marrying someone so perfect for me.

At last I have found what I was looking for ...

At last, after searching through blog after blog I found just what I was looking for. This was the gorgeous Coca Cola holder that I just think is a great idea. I found it on Melissa's website that you can find here . Melissa helps to raise awareness for Autism so go and say hi at some point.

I shall definately be making one of these and will be using insulated wadding to keep my can cool. Thank you Mel for allowing me to feature your beautifully made can holder.
